Mexico City : Where History Meets Technology

March 17, 2018 By Sojy John

Mexico city is the capital of mexico which is beautiful and amazing. Our journey started from the international airport. It is  amazing that the airport is in the middle of crowd, not like other airports which are far from cities. We traveled to our hotel where we had delicious Mexican lunch and a beautiful stay. After travelling to Mexico City from a place like Monterrey, it made me wonder why there are not fans or air condition in the rooms and after enquiring, I came to know that its typical, not to have them even in big hotels and houses as the climate is always pleasant.

Day 1 : A beautiful morning ,there was little rain showers and we took the Metro train which is the cheapest in the world. We reached the beautiful Chapultepec Castle which is considered as Mexico city’s lungs, with trees that replenish oxygen to the valley of mexico. Its built on the top of Chapultepec hill. It was built at the time of vice royalty as the summer home of Viceroy. All the materials, even the bed, dining table, clothes everything which the Viceroy was using is arranged  in a beautiful manner for the tourists to see. We spend around 4 hours roaming the castle and understanding the history of “Battle of Chapultepec”. It is a must visit place in Mexico city.

In the evening, there was little sunshine and we stopped near the small street shops to buy Mexican toys for my kid. We went back to our hotel and had a delicious Mexican dinner enchiladas. I am still having the taste in my tongue.. 🙂

Day 2: As my friend suggested, we took the Turi bus from Polanco in Mexico city which is cheap and wonderful. It is an open bus which takes all around important monuments in the city. The city is covered with trees. It was a different experience in the bus taking photos and visiting places as a gang and also there were announcements and explanations of all the places in English. They give a travel map and depending upon our destinations, we could select the bus.

On the Turibus
Plaza Manuel Tolsa..
El Cardinal..
Monumento a Colon
Cuauhtemoc Monument
The Angel of Independence

Our First stop was at Museo Nacional de Antropología which is a national museum of Mexico. It is the largest and most visited museum in Mexico. The museum contains significant archaeological and anthropological artifacts from Mexico’s pre-Columbian heritage, such as the Stone of the Sun (or the Aztec calendar stone) and the Aztec Xochipilli statue. There are many small shops ouside the museum and if you plan to buy something, its cheap there.

Next we took the bus route to Acuario Inbursa and Soumaya Museum…

The Day concluded with visiting more places and the night view of Paseo De Reforma...

Day 3: We traveled to Teotihuacan, to visit the Mexican pyramid of sun. I don’t know how to express our feelings, it is such a wonderful creation. It is the largest building in Teotihuacan, believed to be constructed around 200 CE considered largest in MesoAmerica.

It is 75 meters high making it the third largest pyramid in the world. We spend some time and climbed the pyramid till top. Wow!! such a beautiful view and we felt we are near the Sun God. While climbing down we saw lots of street stores which sell energy stone, necklace, rings. We bought beautiful necklace and rings from the street ladies who seem to be very genuine, and selling the products for their living. They explained us that energy stone heals pain and provide positive energy. We took a bus which connected us to the city.

The Mexican wonders continues…

Day 4 : We had our flight at night and so, we planned to visit Zocalo and churches nearby as it was a Sunday morning. We visited Bellas Artes, Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral and Zocalo Central. We spend some time there and felt blessed at the historical Metropolitan Cathedral church and by noon, we went back to our hotel and then took our flight back to Monterrey, leaving some great memories behind.
